Goin Fishin Canada. I was out with the family this past weekend in Port Perry. And in the heart of the historical district there is this little fish and chips place.
At first it does not seem like I was even going to walk in. The decor and atmosphere felt I was walking into the 80's or maybe before that.
Well as I walked in I saw my prize.
With this place the fish is what you see and is what you get. All other items are nice but nothing to write home about.
The battered fished is classic here.
Crispy, large portions with each bite better than the next. And for fried fish you know it's done well when it's not greasy.
The fish was clean, the batter was crispy, and the taste was fresh.
A family of 4 with drinks can come out of here well fed for under $50. And remember that's fish and chips, salad and drinks.
Unfortunately I was so full from the fish I could not try a desert item.
I can't wait to be back. -

Yummy fish and chips, my husband and I ate the halibut chips, for 2 , the fish has a great thin batter, the staff very friendly and attentive to customers, seem to have repeat customers. We will be one of them

To sum it up, I love the fish and chips here! We ordered the Hailbut Family Meal for 2 for the deal, and it came with 4 generous pieces of fish, 1 chips and a side of coleslaw for $28. The halibut was fresh and moist, while the batter was very crispy and didn't leave a mouthful of oil. The fries were standard, and service is friendly - really no complaints during my dining experience here.
If you're a fan of fish and chips, Captain George is definitely a must try if you're in town! -

Stumbled upon this restaurant on a day trip to Port Perry. Between 2 people we shared the Captain George's special, under $30 you get onion rings, fries, shrimp, scallops, and 2 large pieces of fish. Normally I don't usually eat fish and chips but this was really delicious. Would go back again if I drop by Port Perry next time.

I love the fish and chips here. The fish was coated with a light crispy batter like a golden shell. Their potatoes were fried perfectly golden, fluffy in the middle and crisp on the surface. Great attentive service!
